Italian chest of drawers LA PERMANENTE CANTÙ FURNITURE from the 60s. Teak wood. Measurements: 129 x 92 x 45 cm. Italian chest of drawers from the firm La Permanente Cantù Furniture, made of teak wood, using boards and uprights with selected grain. The piece of furniture has an asymmetrical design front based on the superposition of drawers and shelves. It is organised into three sections (all of which are free of sliding doors). The central one, the widest, has four drawers and a top shelf; the side ones have two and three shelves, one of them with a small folding lid. It stands on bambi-style legs (truncated cone-shaped and narrower towards the foot), which visually stylise the structure. The absence of ornamentation leaves all the prominence to the beautiful grain of the wood, whose organic, curved and fluid character contrasts expressively with the geometric rigour of the design. The prestigious publishing house La Permanente Cantù works together with the Scuola d'Arte e Mestieri. Its mission is to provide craftsmen with manual skills and technical know-how. The quality of its furniture is appreciated nationally and internationally, to the point that many internationally renowned designers come to Cantù's workshops to realise their ideas.
