Menorcan four seater bench. Hepplewhite style, ca.1800.
Walnut wood.
Measurements: 95 x 185 x 50 cm.
Menorcan four-seater bench. Of English design, it is clearly inspired by the works of George Hepplewhite (1727-1786), whose furniture dominated the English market in the last quarter of the 18th century. George Hepplewhithe (1727 - 1786) was an important maker of chairs and cupboards, one of the "big three" of English cabinetmaking in the 18th century, together with Thomas Sheraton and Thomas Chippendale. Hepplewhite gave his name to a whole style, light and elegant, which was fashionable from the last quarter of the 18th century into the 19th century and is still valued today.
