Joseph GUICHARD (Lyon 1806 - 1880), after RAPHAEL The Triumph of Galatea with Raphael's self-portrait Canvas Height : 71 cm Width : 54 cm Accidents and damages Signed, localized and dated in red in the lower right corner : J Guichard / Rome 1833 Copy of the fresco of Raphael kept at the Villa Farnesine in Rome and the self-portrait kept at the Uffizi Gallery, in Florence Adolphe Thiers entrusted Guichard with the copy of Daniele da Volterra's "Descent from the Cross" in 1833, which allowed him to stay in Rome from 1833 to 1835. The following year, he was commissioned by Edmond Cavé, director of Fine Arts at the Ministry of the Interior, to make a copy of Raphael's "Triumph of Galatea".
