Set of two portrait miniatures of gentleman and a lady, Naples 19th century In a frame embellished with garnets cabochons, one of the two miniatures is signed M. Albanesi 1849 (Michelangelo Albanesi, Naples 1816-1878), one of the best Italian miniaturists of the 19th century (Cf: Schidlof 'The Miniatures in Europe', vol. I, pg. 39). In the upper part of the composition, there is an embossed silver blazon representing the arms of the noble Neapolitan family 'Di Tocco', princes of Acaia and Montemiletto, and two other unidentified blazons in the background. Therefore, it is likely to think that the portrait represent a member of the Di Tocco family. Dimensions 10.8x6.9 in.
