MacDonnel of one of the most important treaties of this author. Geometer and teacher N.-Ch. Romme (1745-1805) obtained the position of royal professor of mathematics and navigation for the students of the navy at the school of Rochefort. He developed numerous researches on fluid resistance and navigation. He is one of the scientists who contributed the most to the progress of navigation in the 18th century.
