The Rolls-Royce 25/30 took over from the 20/25 in 1936. The latter, with its 3680cm3 displacement, sometimes had a little difficulty in carrying the weight of rather ambitious bodies. This is how the 25/30 was born with its 6 cylinders of 4257cm3, a capacity obtained by increasing the bore. The Rolls-Royce carburettor was replaced by a Stromberg and the magneto ignition was abandoned in favour of a coil. The front and rear axles were rigid, suspended by semi-elliptical springs and the braking was assisted by a mechanical brake booster under licence from Hispano-Suiza. The 25/30 also introduced steering wheel adjustable hydraulic dampers and a centralized lubrication system. Production ended after only 2 years, making the 25/30 one of the rarest pre-war Rolls.
