RING SET WITH AN INTAGLIO WITH A BUST OF ARTEMIS THE HUNTRESS Late Hellenistic art, 1st century BC Gold mounting and intaglio on carnelian Diameter: 2.3 cm Provenance Former private collection, acquired in the 1970s-1980s Then by descent, private collection, 1998 A late hellenistic gold ring set with a large carnelian intaglio depicting a bust of Artemis huntress. Large rounded hoop, with squared-oval bezel set with a large gem slightly convex in surface. The goddess is depicted in three-quarters with quiver and bow.
