INTAGLIO WITH A YOUNG MAN'S HEAD

The gem, cut from a dark red carnelian, is elliptical in shape. The decoration engraved in slight relief in the hollow reproduces the head and neck of a young man with short hair; these are styled in small, very detailed strands. The shape of the face is well rounded.
Very good condition, minimal chips.

Formerly, French private collection, acquired in 1995, then by descent, private collection, 1998.
