PONTI Gio (1891-1979), Manufacture RICHARD-GINORI, "Isabella", Large hollow circular dish, out of earthenware, girdled of a broad marli out of earthenware, with decoration of a woman extended on clouds floating with the top of a palate of type palladian enamelled ivory, yellow and gold. The marli is decorated with a frieze of twenty balustrades drawn in blue, beige and orange-brown. On the reverse, the wing is decorated with ballustrades. The piece is titled in the decoration "Isabella". Blue enamelled signature "Ginori" surmounted by a crown, numbered "334", circa 1925" on the reverse. very good condition. Italy. Diam: 47,5. Gio Ponti (1891-1979), who is considered one of the most influential architects and designers of the 20th century, made exceptional pieces for the Richard-Ginori factory. The Richard-Ginori factory in Doccia recruited Gio Ponti in 1923, with a view to renewing the decorative repertoire. Inspired by drawings in the archives of the Doccia museum, Gio Ponti introduced fantasies, fantastic architectures, obelisks and motifs inspired by the wall decorations of Pompeii on dishes and vases. These pieces will be presented at numerous exhibitions of Decorative Arts, from Monza to Paris, between 1923 and 1925. The Ginori factory in Doccia, near Florence, is one of the oldest factories in Europe. It was founded in 1735 and took the name of Richard in 1896, when it joined forces with the Jules Richard factory.
