Jean de Lattre de Tassigny (1889-1952) was a French military man, St-Cyrien, cavalryman, captain in the 93rd RI in 1915-18, brigadier general in 1939, division general in 1942, arrested, he escaped in 1943 and joined the Gaullist troops in Tunisia. He took command of the 1st army. Companion of the Liberation, he was sent to Indochina in 1959-1951. He was posthumously elevated to the dignity of Marshal of France in 1952.
