General Lamarque was born in Saint-Sever in the Landes in 1770 and died in Paris in 1832. He made a career in the revolutionary armies and of the empire, in particular in the wars of Vendée and Spain. He became a brigadier general, then a baron of the empire and received the grand cross of the legion of honour. His funeral on 5 June 1832 was the scene of a strong republican uprising which was immortalized by Victor Hugo in Les Miserables. This document tells us that he was a Freemason belonging to the lodge La Zélée à l'Or. de Bayonne.
