The most important work of Diderot's final years, inspired by Tristram Shandy. It is a a philosophical meta-novel written during the author's stay in the Netherlands in which Diderot makes fun of the novel-form and its rules.
2 parts in one volume, 8vo (197 x 125mm). Certificate of authenticity signed by Buisson on verso of title (some foxing). Contemporary calf, gilt spine (extremities rubbed, bottom edge of spine splitting).

L'opera più importante degli ultimi anni di Diderot, ispirata a Tristram Shandy. Si tratta di un metaromanzo filosofico scritto durante la permanenza dell'autore nei Paesi Bassi in cui Diderot si burla della forma-romanzo e delle sue regole.
2 parti in un volume, 8vo (197 x 125mm). Firma di Buisson che ne certifica l'autenticità al verso del frontespizio (alcune fioriture). Pelle coeva, dorso decorato in oro, tagli a spruzzo rossi (qualche difetto, estremità del dorso rovinata).
