A RUSSETS AND WHITE JADE ‘EROTIC SUBJECT’ SNUFF BOTTLE INSCRIBED WITH TWO VERSES OF A POETRY BY MENG HAORAN 孟浩然 China, Modern Carved out of a white stone with russets accents, of flat ovate shape, resting on a carved ring foot, the front part engraved with an erotic scene, the back part engraved with two verses of a poetry by the renowned Tang Dynasty poet, Meng Haoran (孟浩然, circa 689-740) entitled “Spring Dawn”( 春晓). Very well hollowed. H: 6,2 cm Weight: 52 grams Note: The verses might be read as follow “夜来风雨声，花落知多少”, lit. “Last night the thunder, wind, and rain came long - How many blossoms now remain out there”.
