A SCROLL OF SWALLOWS AND CHERRY BLOSSOMS, AFTER REN BONIAN
China, 20th century. After Ren Bonian (1840–1896), also known as Ren Yi. Ink and watercolors on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll with wooden handles. Depicting two swallows perched on a blooming cherry tree and three flying above. Calligraphy ‘Wuzi year 1888 of Guangxu period. Inscribed ‘Shanyin Ren Bonian’ and seal ‘Ren Bonian‘ to the upper right. The backside with a label reading ‘Purple martin welcomes the spring. Made by Ren Bonian‘.
Condition: Good condition with creases and very few stains mostly to backside.
Provenance: German private collection.
