A CELADON, BLUE AND WHITE PAIR OF BALUSTER VASES
China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Each with ovoid body rising from a ring foot to a trumpet-shaped mouth, molded with stylized confronting lion handles on the shoulders and painted in underglaze blue with Buddhist lions and cubs with brocade balls and ribbons surrounded by scrolling clouds and flames, all against a celadon glazed backdrop.
Condition: Overall in very good condition with some wear, firing flaws and surface scratches.
Provenance: Ex-Collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above.
