A LARGE BLACK AND GOLD PORCELAIN BOWL
China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). With deep rounded sides rising from a short foot to a gently flaring rim. Covered with a beautiful lustrous black glaze and painted in gold to the exterior with depictions of floral scrolls, large lotus petals and fine pattern bands of stylized ruyi heads under the rim. The underside white glazed and with an apocryphal six-character Kangxi reign mark within a double circle.
Condition: Very good condition with age-related wear, a chip to the foot rim and minor firing imperfections.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
