A CELADON ‘DRAGON’ VASE
China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The globular body rising from a straight foot to a slender neck, depicting two dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl amidst flames and ruyi clouds molded in high relief, below a band of waves. The neck with a key fret band. Covered overall in a thick glaze of celadon. The underside with an apocryphal six-character Yongzheng reign mark.
Condition: Superb condition with minimal wear, some firing flaws such as a dark spot.
Provenance: Austrian private collection, according to the current owner acquired at an antique store in 1970.
