A GINBARI CLOISONNÉ BOX AND COVER
Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912)
The cloisonné box of rectangular shape with four bracket feet, the cover, and box with colorful ginbari portraying various flowers in lobed reserves surrounded by swirls of copper wire and mon crests, the underside of the box with a green filigree ground, showing a flower tendril décor.
The inside of the box with a gilt brass interior. Inside the box was a very torn and frail page from a daily paper dated “Meiji Emperor’s 39th year, March 6th, 1907” which can be send to the high bidder upon request.
