A NEPALESE GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF PADMAPANI
Nepal, 16th - 17th century. The lotus holder Padmapani, standing on a double lotus pedestal, dressed in a pleated dhoti, splendidly adorned in jewelry, wearing a serene facial expression with downcast eyes and full lips, an elaborate headdress centered by Amitabha Buddha, holding a lotus stem in the left hand and a lotus blossom next to the shoulder.
Condition: Surface wear, extensive abrasions to the gilding which is partially renewed.
Provenance: Hungarian private collection acquired in 1970.
