AN ARCHAISTIC BRONZE GU VASE
China, late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to early Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The central bulbous section decorated with a diapered band, taotie masks, and four vertical flanges, rising from a tall, splayed foot to the trumpet neck, decorated with four finely incised lobed leaves as well as with ruyi shapes, the lower section portraying four leaves richly ornamented with diapered patterns, on an integrated reticulated base.
Condition: Fine condition with wear, few minuscule nicks and light scratches, one footbridge of base is missing.
Provenance: German private collection. According to the current owner acquired in the Swedish auction market.
