WILLY. A beach of love. Polyglot novel. Paris, Librairie universelle, [1906]. Large in-8, [2] f., 287 p., contemporary fawn half-maroquin, spine with 5 raised bands, author and title gilt, gilt head, cover preserved (some rubbing to the edges).
First edition: one of the first copies on japon (n° 3). The witnesses are so large that the publisher has printed for these copies a cover in large in-8 format, while the format of the text is in-16.
A copy given by the author to the poet and critic Robert de Montesquiou (1855-1921), with a signed autograph letter dated 1907. Willy added this note to his classic mailing: "I do not dare to sign in such imposing letters as Jean de La Hire, magnificent publisher, did". Indeed, the publisher's signature under the justification is unusually large.
Enriched with an autograph letter signed by the author, to a "Monsieur et honoré confrère", dated June 24, 1907; 2 pages in-12, on azure paper bearing his address at the head. It is most certainly to Robert de Montesquiou that this note is addressed, where it is about a painting, typographical errors, and this edition that he offers him.
