[Ermenonville]. [GUYOT (Laurent)]. Picturesque views, plans, &c of the principal English gardens which are in France. Ermenonville. [Paris, Villeneuve, 1785 ?] In-4 oblong in leaves, in a grey-blue mute cover of the time, with all margins (extensive wetness affecting the plates). First issue only, of this very rare suite, including the first 4 plates describing the gardens of Ermenonville, out of the 12 published. It includes 4 intaglio engravings made by Laurent Guyot (1756-1808), printed in colours in the register, showing the following subjects: 1. the great view in front of the castle - 2. a view of a gothic factory - 3. view of the temple of modern philosophy. - 4. view of the winegrower's house. These are preceded by a false title leaf, and 8 pages of text offering the commentary of the 4 plates. The complete work, including also a series of plates on the gardens of Trianon, and those of Bagatelle, is of an outstanding rarity. There is attached an oblong plate in-4°, titled "Vue de la Rotonde à Ermenonville" engraved by C. Bourgeois and Felipe Cardano in 1807.
