Provenance: this pair of vases made at the Sèvres factory on 17 May 1823 was bought for the sum of 350 francs (Vv1, 198-32 and Vv1, 199-3) and delivered to the furniture repository on 24 March 1825 (Sèvres archive reference: Vbb7, fol.41) for the Château de Saint-Cloud.
History: one of the dining rooms in the Château de Saint-Cloud was redesigned during the Restoration in the "Greek style", and King Louis-Philippe undertook to finalise this decoration with the help of Charles Percier (1764-1838). The latter also designed neo-Greek inspired motifs for the porcelains of the Sèvres factory.
