Woman with a basket - Project 43-33 - Design by Jean Debarre (1917-1968).
Painted with petit feu and gold fillets on a vase shape called Ruhlmann n° 1, created by Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann in 1926.
Jean Debarre was inspired by the poster he created in 1932 for the Salon des artistes décorateurs which took place at the Grand-Palais in July 1932.
Sèvres manufacturing marks engraved under enamel: CM 9 33 PN (PN for new paste developed at the Sèvres factory in 1880).
Cartouche in black on enamel: SÈVRES MANUFACTURE NATIONALE
FRANCE with the letter date h for 1933.
Signature in black : J.H. d'ap. Jean Debarre 43.33.
A similar model, preserved in the collections of the Mobilier national is illustrated in the book of Jean-Paul Midant, Sèvres, la manufacture au XXe siècle, Éditions Michel Aveline, Paris, 1992, p. 128.
No more than three similar examples were made. The Sèvres manufactory approached Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann as early as 1925, ordering pieces for its stand at the International Exhibition.
