Oil on canvas, 68 × 100 cm, Musée Condé, Chantilly. "The Duc d'Aumale commissioned this painting in 1864 for the Duchess of Aumale. The Countess de Ségur acted as intermediary between the artist and the prince, who was exiled in England at the time. The duke and duchess were so pleased with the painting that he doubled the price agreed with Rosa Bonheur from 5,000 francs to 10,000 francs.
