History
Jean-Charles-Nicolas Brachard, known as the elder (1766-1823), was apprenticed in 1776, became a repairer and then a sculptor, and was pensioned in 1823. Under the direction of Brongniart (and perhaps a little earlier), he was responsible for the development of sculpture models and created a number of them, including portrait medallions such as this one.
