Folded fan, the cream silk sheet painted with medallion portraits of the bride and groom, under a royal crown with gold chain stitch. It could be on the left of Louis, dauphin, future Louis XVI, wearing the order of the Holy Spirit, and on the right of Marie-Antoinette, whose marriage was celebrated in May 1770. Another hypothesis could be the evocation of the marriage of the Count of Provence in 1771 or of the Count of Artois in 1773. The medallions are underlined with gold chain stitch, as are the side motifs evoking feelings of love: two baskets filled with flowers; a heart pierced with two arrows on which rests a dove on the right; a quiver and a torch, associated with a dove on the left. In the border, panther spots effect on a pink background. Dull reverse. Mounted in finely carved ivory*, enhanced in color and gilt. In the center, a small group in the Chinese style. On the upper part of the plumes, a Chinese-inspired figure under a parasol. The head is enhanced by a thin brown tortoiseshell plate**. Small accidents, restorations to the leaf and to the frame. Height of the main shaft: 28.5 cm - height of the leaf: 14 cm - span: 45 cm. Gross weight : 52,0 g. Lot appraised by Mrs Georgina Letourmy-Bordier.
