mounted in tortoise shell inlaid on the lid with an oval medallion with an equestrian portrait of Queen Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793), in amazon wearing a feathered headdress, painted on mother-of-pearl and enhanced with gilded metal sticks, silver and gilded pastilles, made after the print by Robin de Montigny (see below), under glass. Inside lined with tortoise shell. Small missing pieces. 18th century, circa 1774-1780. H. 2,5 x D. 7,5 cm. Related work Marie-Antoinette, in profile to the left, wearing a black hat topped with multicolored feathers, dressed in a crushed strawberry-colored amazon, the dress open over a white embroidered jacket; mounted as a woman on a white horse with a blue cover edged in gold. By Robin de Montigny (engraver), circa 1774, from the series of prints of equestrian portraits published by Basset and kept in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
