MARQUIS GASPARD DE FONTENU (1663-1754). Red morocco wallet with six gussets, decorated with gold small iron, bordered by a leafy frieze, flap decorated with flowers. Marked on the front "Marquis de Fontenu contrôleur de la Marine". Engraved and cut silver lock with three anchor points, with its key with a diamond-shaped core. 18th century. (traces of intensive use). A.B.E. 28 x 40 cm. Marquis Gaspard de Fontenu. Consul general for the King of France in Smyrna (1710-1727), then in charge of the King's affairs at the Ottoman Post Office, finally, general commissioner of the navy in Paris . Died in Paris on September 5th 1754 at the age of 91.
