A coffee table with ceramic tiles in Safavid style, signed by M. Carrillo or Camillo.
Please do not confuse with Joan Carrillo a modernist ceramist
We have not found any major information on M. Carrillo. However, the level of virtuosity of this tray suggests that this ceramist must have worked for a great ceramist.
The graphics are in the Persian style (Saz) but in a treatment of ceramist of Kutahya, letting think that this ceramist could have worked in Italy or in France.
The decoration is adorned with a central medallion decorated with floral and bird motifs. The field or space around the central medallion is a floral network in the Safavid spirit, and often taken up by the Greek and Armenian ceramists of the Ottoman Empire as well as those of the West who revived this art, such as Samson or Cantagalli. Good condition. Minor wear.
