An important and very old carpet from Eastern Morocco, Morocco. An important 18th or 19th century Beni Mtir or Beni Bou Zeggou ? carpet, Morocco. When a carpet is particularly old, it is very difficult to attribute it to a precise group or even a precise region. This is the case with this carpet. This example is close to the carpets of Eastern Morocco, such as the Beni Bou Yahi and the Beni Bou Zeggou. Some similar examples appear in Prosper Ricard's book. However, it is not impossible that this carpet belongs to another group, such as the Beni Mtir. Wear of use, weft and warp sometimes apparent. Restorations. Bibliography: Patricia Fiske, W. Russell Pickering, Jeanette Harris, etc, "From the Far West: Carpets and Textiles of Morocco" The Textile Museum, Washington, 1980. See page 87. 18th - 19th century 233 x 162 cm
