Kashmir enamelled box. Gilt copper enamelled in polychrome.
Kashmir, 19th century This covered box is richly enamelled in polychrome, with foliage and flowers in relief.
It stands on a foot with openwork decoration, and has a gadrooned decoration on the lid and the lower part of the body.
Objects of this type were in most cases destined for Western markets.
Pieces of a similar type are preserved in the Victoria & Albert Museum (Inv. n°IS.1542-1883 or IS.1493- 1883). Accidents.
