Wool and silk tapestry representing Renaud's Farewell to Armide. In a landscape, the magician is kneeling before Renaud, mopping his tears with a handkerchief; behind the knight, a shield and a sword have been hung on a tree branch by Renaud's companions, whose faces can be seen in the foliage, in order to shame his effeminate appearance. Border decorated with garlands of flowers.
Aubusson, late 17th century (minor wear and restoration).
