Claude Galle delivered for the Emperor's Palace in Compiègne in 1808 "a pair of arms with winged figure and sheath on a four-light ball" model from which our sconces come. A similar pair, delivered by the upholsterer Darrac for the apartments of the Empress at the Palais de Rohan in Strasbourg, is kept at the Mobilier National. The success of the model was such that it was also made into candelabras.
