FRENCH WORK OF THE 1860's MAGNIFICENT CAMEDROCK The thick cameo on agate with two layers represents a woman in profile. Mounted in 18K yellow gold with black enamel in a decoration of pastilles, the whole enhanced with fine half pearls. Gross weight : 33,43 gr. Dimensions. 5,2 x 4,2 cm. Thickness of the cameo : 1,6 cm approximately. Certainly the quality of a cameo is not measured by the thickness adopted by the engraver, but this thickness allows nevertheless to classify the cameos, then the fineness of engraving, the skilful use of the oppositions of color.
