Small trades, and trompe-l'oeil of lace, circa 1760
Folded fan, the double sheet of paper painted on a blue background with a rich trompe-l'oeil effect of lace, among flowers and butterflies. Illustrating the "cries of Paris", small medallions each host a character evoking the itinerant trades that animated the streets of Paris in the 18th century, such as a water carrier, a flower girl or a drink seller. In the centre, ships leave a merchant port.
Painted reverse of a farm among trees.
Ivory frame* painted in harmony with a trompe-l'oeil of lace on a blue background among flowers.
