The Necklace of Rebekah, Europe, ca. 1740-1750
Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English, and painted with gouache of young women walking to fill their jugs at the well. In the center, Eliezer, who has come to water his camels, offers a pearl necklace to Rebekah so that she may become his master's wife.

Ivory mount* cut with a trellis effect and a couple in the center.
