14 x 14 cm. 15th century. Depiction of a pelican feeding its young in the nest. Symbol of Christ's sacrificial death, chased in copper. The high arched relief on a fourfold fitting curved flat ground, within it engraved foliage. Fire-gilded, small mounting holes at the rim; probably formerly picture decoration of a book cover or cross ciborium. Beautiful age patina. Laid on cloth in octagonal frame. (12912412) (11)
