Gotische Schnitzfigur einer Madonna mit Kind im... Lot n° 466

Height: 33.5 cm. Shrine: 41 x 31 x 12 cm. Probably Salzburg, mid-15th century. Group of figures in softwood. The Madonna is seated on the cushion of a bench, the side pillars of which protrude sideways. The upper part of the body is raised high, the face is turned towards the child, who is sitting on the left knee, held by the mother's hand. The red-painted mantle, opened at the breast, lets see the girded, finely folded dress. Slightly ogival bowl fold between the knees and at the sides. The child with crossed legs, as attributive sign of highness, holds a grape berry in her hand, the mother hands a bunch of grapes. Body design, especially the faces worked in high carving quality. The version has been reworked and tuned due to its age. The rectangular shrine has a lancet-arched gilded frame with corner tracery at the front. A.R. (1291633) (11)
