DOUBLE PORTRAIT WITH WIFE AND GIRL Oil on canvas. 125 x 103 cm. Verso with several collection labels and numbering. In gilt ornamentally decorated frame with artist's name. An interior is defined primarily by its view into the urban background, bounded on the left by a red curtain. An elderly woman is seated on the right, in front of her a girl in a light-coloured robe, obviously receiving a coin in return for flowers she has brought. Provenance: Louis Bernard Coclers, Leiden/Paris/Amsterdam/Luik. Sold 1816 by auction at Philippus van der Schley, lot 38. Fideikomiss-Galerie Hannover, 1905, no. 276. Collection B.
