Pair of paintings HISTORICAL BATTLE REPRESENTATIONS Oil on wood. Each 43 x 66 cm. One signed lower left. In decorative wooden frames. On the bank of a broad river running into the depth of the picture two splendid horsemen in shining armour on their horses in back view, each carrying a spear in his hands and a sword around his hips, in front of him a huge army of soldiers in helmet and armour. They are probably setting out to pursue an army riding on the other side through the river. The second painting shows in a wide landscape two army leaders on horseback in intense conversation and negotiation. On the left, on a white horse, a man with a full beard and a red beret, while the other in armour with a helmet has his hand outstretched for a possible peace agreement. On the right three more soldiers, partly on horseback, in splendid gold and silver armour, one of them wearing a gold helmet. In the background numerous lances and an indicated oversized army, in beige-brown colouring. High-quality painting, in which especially various pieces of armour are brought to the fore by their colourfulness and their silver or golden sheen. One plate with horizontal tear, partly rest. and small retouchings. (12916223) (18) Johann Hausser, active ca. 1595 - 1603 A pair of paintings HISTORICAL BATTLE SCENESOil on panel. 43 x 66 cm each.
