Lambert Sustris was a Dutch painter who was mainly active in Italy and there especially in Venice. He created manneristic mythological scenes as well as impressive portraits. The artist, who was probably born in Amsterdam, was probably trained in Haarlem or in Utrecht, in the circle of Maarten Jacobsz van Heemskerck (1498-1574) or of Jan van Scorel (1495-1562). In the early 1530s he went to Rome, where he worked in the workshop of Tiziano Vecellio (1485-1576) between 1542 and 1544.... (1290513) (3) (18)
