Height: 113 cm. Total height with plinth: 153 cm. Base width: 57 cm. Base depth: 32 cm. Signed "Biesta Paris" (Jean Biesta, master since 1759). Circa 1760. Case construction in the typical design of the Louis XV period with waisted clock case in wood, richly decorated with applied fire-gilded rocailles in floral C and S arches. The gilded feet swinging outwards, S-arched continuing upwards. The pendulum window covered with several floral C-arches, the base tapering downwards, roof structure removable. Above rises a tall pavilion-like round arch with foliage and flowers, with inset fully sculpted and cast bird with outstretched wings, above a rock elevation. All bronze applications, fire-gilded, contrast effectively with the green-painted body, richly painted with blossoms, bouquets and scattered flowers. On the front of the base, inserted in a bouquet of flowers, war trophies with cannon barrels and flags and pennants coming out of them, which is probably due to the commissioner. White dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes and openworked gilt hands. The signature of "Jean Biesta", Parisian clockmaker, of Dutch origin, who can be proved to have worked in Paris between 1754 and 1789, registered as a master since 1759. In 1757 he created a clock "A aeguelles concentriques" for the Academie Royale des Sciences. Eight-day movement with lever escapement, brass back plate with engraved clockmaker's signature. Pendulum on thread suspension. Lock plate striking movement for striking the half hour and hour on an overhead bell. Original key present. (12901016) (11) Louis XV console clock Height: 113 cm.
