Height: approx. 96 cm. Width: approx. 55 cm. Back plate signed "Balthazar Martinot à Paris". France, c. 1750, Louis XV. Functions: À jour worked and gilt hands for hours and minutes. Strike on bell on the half and full hour. Case: cast bronze, chased and gilded. Irregular body formed by acanthus leaves and sculptural protruding flowers with central tondo for the clockwork and allegorical figure of Urania sitting on top. Above the pendulum case a sculptured putto. The soundbox à jour worked with remnants of a textile backing. Dial: White enamel with black Roman hours and black Arabic minutes.
