Height: 40 cm each. France, 18th century. Design, the light form of the appearance effect, but also the choice of light marble suggest that the elaborately crafted pair of vases was made for a courtly ladies' cabinet. The multiple curved base and vase body in shades of violet pink and cream, the supporting foot formed of S and C arched rocaille leaves, worked in openwork, emphasizing the lightness of appearance. The vase body widens ovaloid upwards, with twisted drawing profiles. Correspondingly, the lip is shaped as a wavy collar, above it a smaller rounded lid, crowned by gilded leaves with opened acanthus fruit. The gilded curved handles pull up from the base foot. The gilt bronze applications finely cast and chased in cold work. A.R. (1291262) (11) A pair of impressive Louis XV marble and gilt-bronze lidded vases Height: 40 cm each. France, 18th century.
