Height: 132 cm. Thigh depth: 90 cm. Front width: 123 cm. Front depth: 98 cm. Germany, mid 18th century. With walnut as well as walnut root veneer. The furniture in two parts, the base with a curved middle door, strongly swinging out, on each side of the door three S-curved drawers, the corners bevelled inlaid with pilaster strip decoration, on the sides band-framed slender fields. The central field of the door contains a coat-of-arms-shaped inlay, ivory framed with a flower vase, the inner field in tortoiseshell. The pilaster strips of the base and the upper section also contain ivory-framed tortoiseshell inlays in slender ribbon-framed fields. The substructure with a curved base profile over carved C-arched feet. The top has two doors, the central pilaster strip protruding in line with the base. The upper case is supported by a wrap-around moulding. Crowning in the central section running straight, but projecting towards the front, flanked at the sides by fully sculptured carved vase attachments. Middle crowning in the form of a shell top with acanthus leaves, carved. The two doors equally elaborately inlaid with slender lighter central panels widening upwards on a walnut root ground. In the centre of each is a figural representation inlaid in ivory: a flute and a musician playing a lyre in an antique setting. The composite capitals of the pilasters finely carved and darkly stained. Interior of the upper part lined with felt, the side drawers of the lower part with central locking.
