HISTORY: The subject of the death of Christ has been treated several times
by Carpeaux, in the form of copies of the old masters (Rubens
for example) or original works. There is a watercolour of the subject
in the collections of the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris, showing a composition quite similar but inverted from that of the
to our painting.
