Narwhal (Monodon monoceros) II/A CE pre-convention. Raw rostrum with beautiful old patina presented on a wooden base. This marine mammal that is the narwhal and more precisely its rostrum has always aroused since the dawn of time a real fascination in the imagination of man. This appendage (rostrum) was attributed to a fantastic animal feeding the myth of the unicorn, an animal with magical and shamanic powers appearing on numerous coats of arms and tapestries. From the 18th century, rich collectors and patrons offered fortunes in gold and precious stones to possess in their cabinet of curiosities a narwhal rostrum supposed to be the defensive spur of the chimerical unicorn animal. Diameter at the base: 4.5 cm External circumference: 16.5 cm Length: 206 cm Intra-Community certificate allowing the use in the EU delivered on 23/06/2021 by the DRIEAT Ile-de-France.
