Wayne HIGBY born in 1943 "Chimney Gap" 2001 Sculpture in glazed and flamed stoneware. Plinth. Stamp of the artist on the back. Height 19 cm. Length: 22 cm. Depth: 12 cm. Provenance : Yacht the PELORUS. Design and interior decoration of the yacht by Terence Disdale. Born in the United States in 1943, Wayne Higby is one of the most famous American ceramic artists. Many pieces of his avant-garde production, reinterpreting the Japanese Raku but also the immense Chinese heritage of the arts of fire, are preserved in the greatest museums of North America: Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC, American Craft Museum NYC, Brooklin Museum of Art NYC, Carnegie Institute, Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Denver Art Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art; but also in Europe at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and in Japan at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
