A very large bronze figure of Weituo. 17th/18th century Standing on a low irregular base (damaged) in full armour and legs wide apart, both hands folded in front of the chest, and a large club liying across the arms, at the front of the helmet a sun emblem and clouds. A dark grey patina as a result of having been placed outside, the face now blackened. Parts sticking out from the general contour of the figure and the tip of the club broken. Flat wooden stand. Height 102 cm Provenance Private collection, Hesse, from the estate of the founding family of Farbwerke Hoechst, assembled in the first half of the 20th century, thence in the family by descent
